Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 pound steak (your choice of cut, such as ribeye or sirloin)

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, Cajun seasoning, and brown sugar.
  2. Add the minced garlic to the bowl.
  3. Pour in the Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
  4. Stir in the Dijon mustard and apple cider vinegar.
  5. If desired, add the hot sauce for extra heat.
  6. Season the marinade with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
  8. Place the steak in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it’s well coated.
  9. Seal the bag tightly and massage the marinade into the steak, or cover the dish with plastic wrap.
  10. Let the steak marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably 4 to 6 hours, or overnight for best results.
  11. Remove the steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  12. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  13. Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and discard the leftover marinade.
  14. Season the steak lightly with additional salt and pepper if desired.
  15. Place the steak on the grill or in the skillet. For medium-rare, cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, checking for doneness with a meat thermometer (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  16. Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  17. Slice the steak against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Adjust the hot sauce according to your spice preference.
  • For best flavor, marinate the steak overnight.
  • Serve with sides like grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
