These frozen chocolate-covered banana bites combine creamy bananas with rich chocolate, topped with crunchy nuts and coconut. They are a delightful, fun, and healthy treat perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate, if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • 1 cup of crushed nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, or peanuts)
  • 1 cup of shredded coconut (unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt (optional, for a sweet and salty flavor)
  • Popsicle sticks or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and cut them into halves or thirds.
  2. Place the banana pieces on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they are spaced out.
  3. Freeze the banana pieces for 1-2 hours until completely frozen.
  4. Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or microwave.
  5. For a double boiler, simmer water in the bottom pot and melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in the top pot, stirring until smooth.
  6. For the microwave, heat chocolate chips and coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted.
  7. Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer.
  8. Dip each banana piece into the melted chocolate, allowing excess chocolate to drip off.
  9. Roll the chocolate-coated banana in crushed nuts and shredded coconut, or sprinkle toppings over it.
  10. Place the coated banana pieces back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  11. Return the baking sheet to the freezer and let the treats freeze for an additional 1-2 hours until the chocolate is set.
  12. Store any leftovers in an airtight container or zip-top bag, separating layers with parchment paper.
  13. Enjoy the frozen banana treats straight from the freezer.
  14. Serve as a fun dessert or healthy snack, and consider drizzling extra melted chocolate or sprinkling sea salt for added flavor.

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of chocolate or toppings for variety.
  • For a healthier option, skip the chocolate and roll the banana pieces in crushed nuts or seeds before freezing.
  • Other topping options include mini chocolate chips, sprinkles, or dried fruit.
