These Greek-inspired burgers combine juicy ground beef with feta cheese and fresh herbs, topped with a creamy Greek yogurt sauce and fresh veggies. Perfect for grilling, they offer a flavorful twist on the classic burger for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried oregano)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 4 whole wheat or regular burger buns
  • 1 cup baby spinach or arugula
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • Olive oil for grilling

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled feta cheese, Greek yogurt, minced garlic, chopped oregano, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
  3. Place the patties on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover with plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and brush the grill grates with olive oil.
  5. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on the first side without moving them.
  6. Flip the burgers gently and cook for another 4-5 minutes on the other side. Aim for an internal temperature of 160°F for medium or 165°F for well-done.
  7. If desired, add a slice of feta cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking and close the grill lid to melt.
  8. Wash and dry the baby spinach or arugula.
  9. Slice the tomato into thick rounds and the cucumber into thin slices. Optionally, add red onion slices for extra crunch.
  10. For a quick tzatziki-style sauce, mix Greek yogurt with a squeeze of lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
  11. Toast the burger buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Spread a generous amount of the Greek yogurt sauce (if made) on the bottom half of each bun.
  13. Layer with baby spinach or arugula, followed by the burger patty, sliced tomato, and cucumber. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
