This Classic Easy Banana Bread transforms overripe bananas into a moist, flavorful treat that everyone will adore. It’s simple to make and perfect for any occasion, whether for breakfast, a snack, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup nuts (walnuts or pecans) or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or a potato masher until smooth. Aim for about 1 cup of mashed bananas.
  4. Add melted butter to the mashed bananas and stir. Then mix in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine!
  7. If you’re using nuts or chocolate chips, fold them in at this point.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
