Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2 oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 1 lemon, peeled and segmented
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for sweetness)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes (for serving)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and Peel the Carrots: Thoroughly wash the carrots under running water and peel them using a vegetable peeler to remove any bitterness from the skin.
  2. Chop the Carrots: Cut the peeled carrots into smaller pieces, about 1-2 inches in size for easier processing.
  3. Prepare the Citrus Fruits: Peel the oranges and lemon, removing as much of the white pith as possible. Segment the fruits by cutting between the membranes to release the juicy segments.
  4. Peel the Ginger: Use a spoon or vegetable peeler to remove the skin from the ginger. Slice it into smaller pieces.
  5. Choose Your Juicing Method: Decide whether to use a juicer or a blender for this recipe. A juicer will yield a smoother juice, while a blender will require straining.
  6. Juicing with a Juicer: Feed the chopped carrots into the juicer, followed by the ginger, orange segments, and lemon segments. Alternate between the harder and softer ingredients for smooth processing. Collect the juice in a pitcher or bowl.
  7. Juicing with a Blender: Add the chopped carrots, ginger, orange segments, and lemon segments into the blender. Pour in 2 cups of cold water and blend on high speed until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the pulp to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the pulp or save it for another use.
  8. Taste and Adjust: Taste the juice and add honey if desired for extra sweetness. Stir well to combine.
  9. Chill the Juice: Refrigerate the juice for about 30 minutes if you prefer it cold, or serve immediately over ice cubes.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Pour the juice into glasses filled with ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
  11. Enjoy: Sip and enjoy the vibrant flavors of your freshly made citrus carrot ginger juice.
