  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well blended.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix on medium speed until just combined.
  6. Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin. If using, fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. For optional frosting, heat heavy cream until simmering, then stir in chocolate chips until smooth. Pour over the cooled cake.
  11. Alternatively, dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
