Enjoy a refreshing Blackberry Mimosa, featuring a vibrant mix of blackberry puree and sparkling wine, ideal for brunch or celebrations. Garnished with mint and extra blackberries, this cocktail is both visually appealing and deliciously fruity.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 bottle of chilled sparkling wine (such as Prosecco or Champagne)
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)
  • Additional blackberries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the fresh blackberries and sugar (if using).
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, gently mash the blackberries until they are broken down into a chunky puree.
  3. Add the fresh lemon juice to the blackberry mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. For a smoother puree, blend the mixture and strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds.
  5. Fill a large bowl or sink with ice and cold water.
  6. Submerge your champagne flutes in the ice water for about 5-10 minutes to chill.
  7. Remove the glasses from the ice water and dry them gently.
  8. In each glass, add about 1-2 tablespoons of the blackberry puree.
  9. Slowly pour the chilled sparkling wine into each glass, filling it to about three-quarters full.
  10. Gently stir the mixture to combine, being careful to maintain the bubbles.
  11. Slap fresh mint leaves between your hands to release their aroma and place them on top of each mimosa.
  12. Add extra blackberries to each glass for garnish.
  13. Serve the mimosas immediately while they are still bubbly.
  14. For a fun twist, create a mimosa bar with additional fruit purees and sparkling wine options.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sugar based on the sweetness of the blackberries.
  • For a smoother texture, blending and straining the puree is recommended.
  • Consider using different types of sparkling wine for varied flavors.
