Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 package (15 oz) chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients required to prepare)
  • 1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk (for pudding)
  • 1 cup chocolate shavings or chocolate chips (for garnish)
  • Fresh mint leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions (usually involves combining the cake mix with eggs, water, and oil). Mix until well combined, but do not overmix.
  3. Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula if necessary.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. While the cakes are cooling, beat the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy.
  7. Gradually add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese, mixing well until fully incorporated.
  8. Pour in the Baileys Irish Cream and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined and smooth.
  9. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
  10. Gently fold the whipped cream into the Baileys cream cheese mixture, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream.
  11. In another bowl, combine the instant chocolate pudding mix with 2 cups of milk. Whisk together until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes.
  12. Set the pudding aside. Optionally, mix in a tablespoon of Baileys Irish Cream for extra flavor.
  13. Cut the cooled chocolate cakes into small cubes using a serrated knife.
  14. In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, layer the ingredients starting with a layer of chocolate cake cubes at the bottom.
  15. Add a layer of the Baileys cheesecake filling on top of the cake cubes, spreading it evenly.
  16. Follow with a layer of chocolate pudding, spreading it out evenly over the cheesecake layer.
  17. Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients, finishing with a layer of Baileys cheesecake filling on top.
  18. Cover the trifle with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
  19. Just before serving, remove the trifle from the refrigerator and garnish the top with chocolate shavings or chocolate chips. Optionally, add fresh mint leaves for color and freshness.
  20. Serve the trifle chilled, using a large spoon to scoop out portions, ensuring to get a bit of each layer in every serving.
  21. Enjoy the rich, creamy, and indulgent flavors of this Baileys Chocolate Cheesecake Trifle with friends and family.
